Our Little Sprouts Pre-School is a ministry of Christ Lutheran Church. Little Sprouts provides an excellent academic and socialization program for children from 2-to-5 years old in a Christian-centered curriculum. For more information or to register, call Mrs. Lynore Keating at 516-746-4889. We offer 2, 3 and 5-day morning and afternoon sessions. You are cordially invited to come and visit our classes in session.

We are currently registering students for the 2017-2018 school year

There will be an Open House on Saturday February 4 from 10 am - 12 pm

Two-year-old program - Tuesday/Thursday AM or Monday/Wednesday/Friday AM or Monday-Friday from 9:15 to 11:15. The program runs from September to May. Children are introduced to school tools and taught to use markers, crayons, paint brushes, glue, etc. in a variety of ways. Tactile activities such as playdough, fingerpainting, sand and water play are explored. The day's schedule includes storytime, arts & crafts, snack, music/movement and outdoor/gym play. Maximum enrollment for this class is 9 children.

Three-year-old program - Tuesday/Thursday, Monday/Wednesday/Friday or a combination of both for 5 days is offered in the AM (9-12:00) or PM (12:30 - 3:00) sessions. Two teachers supervise the room with a maximum of 16 children per class. The program runs from September-June. Children learn to follow a routine of the day and improve independence skills such as taking care of belongings, putting on outerwear, setting and cleaning table space, sharing and putting away toys, taking turns and following directions. Curriculum includes colors, shapes, name recognition, math concepts, animals, insects, plants, community helpers and seasons/holidays. Outdoor or gym play is included daily.

Four-year-old program - Monday-Friday AM (9:00-12:00), Monday/Wednesday/Friday PM (12:30 - 3:00) or Monday-Friday PM classes are available. Maximum class size is 16 with two teachers. Independence, mastery of critical readiness skills and development of self-control are stressed in this year. Students rotate through math and literacy centers daily, which we map to New York State Learning Standards. Activities include printing skills, alphabet, math readiness, rhyming, patterning, reading comprehension, hands-on science and fine motor skills practice to develop necessary kindergarten skills. Group cooking projects are also part of the curriculum. Children are assigned basic homework pages for continued review at home. All classes utilize the playground or indoor gym for exercise, games and development of large motor skills. A morning meeting, storytime, snack and group playtime round out the day.

Recent Parent Testimonials:

"I just wanted to take a moment to write and express how happy I am with the revamped Pre-K program this year.  I was impressed from Day 1 at the Hello party, both in how the room got visually decluttered/reorganized and in what was being relayed by Mrs. Schlatter about what was in store for the Pre-K level in the upcoming year.  It has been great seeing the different activities/projects that Louisa comes home with and receiving the weekly updates about what is being explored at the various "centers".  The high level of commitment and creativity in the programming is clear so far and reminiscent of the summer camp's energy too".

"I wanted to take the time to thank all the teachers at Little Sprouts. My grandchildren have been or are currently in your program. After moving on to kindergarten and observing how that program is being implemented, it made me realize how much your staff teaches and prepares these little ones for the big world. My grandson is more than ready to tackle the new challenges that face him as will his sister be when she moves on. Thank you and keep up the good work."
Linda Kleinschmidt
"I am thrilled with everyone at Little Sprouts. My son never went to school before and has speech issues. However, he has improved and has adjusted so well because of the great teachers and nurturing yet academic environment. I felt safe leaving him at the school. Thanks so much."

"My son's experience was positive and enjoyable. Lucas came out every day with a smile on his face and with stories of his activities. This program was really great for him."

"Brayden had a wonderful time at camp! At pick-up time he was always so excited to show me the fun projects he had made and say how much he loved to go in the sprinkler. The snacks were always very cute and creative and the hands-on experience he got making them was wonderful. The huge grin on his face at the end of the day said it all. Thank you for a great summer! We can't wait until next year!"
