Robert Cederstrom
The Reverend Robert Thomas Cederstrom, Sr. affectionately known as Pastor Bob has been serving our congregation since December 2009. Pastor Bob attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and holds a Masters' of Divinity Degree from New York Theological Seminary in NYC. He also holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Special Education from Brooklyn College, an Associates of Arts Degree from the College of Staten Island and a certificate in Industrial Labor Relations from Cornell University. He is a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School. Before joining us, Pastor Bob served as the Vicar at Christ Lutheran Church in East Northport and at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Babylon. He also served a chaplaincy internship at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. Pastor Bob has been serving as the Associate Pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in East Northport since 2007. He is currently the Dean of the Western Nassau Conference and is serving as the Pastor of Christ, Floral Park in collaboration with our ministry at New Hyde Park and the Coverage Pastor at Gloria Dei in New Hyde Park. Previously, he served as the Coverage Pastor at New Hope Lutheran Church, Valley Stream, Ascension Lutheran Church, Franklin Square and Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Mineola during their respective pastoral vacancies. Pastor Bob is also the President of the Long Island Lutheran Basketball League. When he's not wearing his clerics, he enjoys playing tennis and is an avid NY Mets and NY Jets fan (pray for him). Pastor Bob feels blessed to serve God and all of God's people. Before answering God's Call to ministry of Word and Sacrament, Pastor Bob taught Middle School in Brooklyn and was an adjunct professor at Kingsborough College in Brooklyn for 25 years and was the Director of Operations for the NYC Homeless Housing Department. Pastor Bob also served in the United States Navy and is a decorated Vietnam Veteran and is awaiting his commission as a US Coast Gurad Chaplain.
